A safe space for all.

Here at The Zone, we put your mental health at the forefront of your training. 

The fitness community can be intimidating to say the least, so we have created an environment which is safe and promotes a healthy relationship with your mind and body.  If you feel anxious, worried, or unable to attend a commercial gym for any reason, this is a fantastic alternative!

LOUISE

OWNER OF THE ZONE

Hi I'm Louise Fitzgerald (She/Her), Owner of The Zone!

 

I'm sadly not able to take on any clients due to a decline in my health.  I have Functional Neurological Disorder, non epileptic seizures, M/E and a Chronic Pain Disorder.  I am still passionate about looking after my mind/body, but that looks a little different these days.  I enjoy swimming, cycling and light workouts to keep me focused.

Fun fact: I can juggle! Only with standard juggling balls, but I'd love to learn to fire juggle one day!

Favourite exercise: This changes a lot, but at the moment it's definitely the leg press.  I like the stability of the machine and even though I'm not able to train as much as I'd like to, I can still push a good amount of weight which makes me feel great!

Hiya, I'm Jane (She/Her) and I'm a Personal Trainer at The Zone!

 

I've been a PT for 7 years!

Fun fact: I hated PE at school!  I used to hide in the toilets during lessons.  I then discovered exercise I love doing and with that, came the self belief, confidence and endorphins.  I love taking women on the same journey!

Favourite exercise: Anything that makes you feel like a NINJA!  Our minds and bodies love variety, rather than the same repetitive routine.  Wakeboarding, paddle boarding, climbing, kayaking, running, hiking and team sports is where you'll find me most weeks!

PERSONAL TRAINER

Hey I'm Meg (She/her) and I'm a PT here at The Zone!

 

I've been a PT for 8 years!

Fun fact: I once went on a cruise ship that sank (yes, really!!)

Favourite exercise: Burpees.  I used to find them so awful and difficult!  I decided to stick with them and master them, now I love them as they are the best example of how far I've come and what I can achieve when I put my mind to it!

I became a PT to help people enjoy movement without the pressure of making themselves smaller.  I wanted to show that training can be about strength, confidence and what your body can do, not just how it looks.

Somewhere along the way, I completely fell in love with sports conditioning - the science of how different disciplines place unique demands on the body, and how smart strength and conditioning can help athletes move better, perform stronger and stay resilient.

MICHELLE

PERSONAL TRAINER

 

Hi, I'm Michelle/Shell/Shelly (She/Her) and I'm a Personal Trainer at The Zone!

 

I am a recently qualified PT and have 20 years of combined circus and acroyoga experience.

Fun fact: I am a circus performer and live in a 42ft wagon!

Favourite exercise: I love creative, joyful movement, as I believe it really is the best medicine.  My favourite exercise is probably a tie between a Kettle Bell Turkish Get Up and a Handstand, as I get into a meditative zone with both and they both provide such great strength and mobility training.

I am someone who is always learning, playing, and seeking joy; this has shaped my approach to fitness and life.  I believe that movement is medicine, creativity fuels growth, and connection strengthens us.  I'm striving to keep personal human connection alive in a modern world that can so often feel isolating.  I'm passionate about helping people feel strong, confident, seen, supported and empowered!

Hi I'm Kaylen (He/him) and I'm a PT at The Zone!

 

I've been a qualified PT for 3 years!

Favourite exercise: Before my shoulder injury I loved doing burpees, but currently my favourite exercise has to be running!

I'm all about the small wins!  Whether it's hitting a new personal best or finally mastering a new move, it's the little victories that keep me motivated.  The gym is the one place I can just focus on myself, push my limits, and leave all my stress behind.

BOXING COACH

 

Hey I'm Matt (He/Him), and I'm a Boxing Coach at The Zone!

 

I've been a boxing coach for 4 years and have trained people of all ages and skill levels from beginner, right through to competitive boxing.

Fun fact: I'm a musician and have been lucky enough to hear my music played on national radio!

Favourite exercise: Push Ups.  Honestly most days, I hate doing them!  But there is nothing better in my opinion and there's so many different variations within the exercise which makes it suitable for anyone.

Community and escapism are two things I love about exercise.  I love how exercise brings people together for a shared experience and allows you to be free of the worries of the world, even if it's just for an hour.

NIKI

PERSONAL TRAINER

Hi I'm Niki (She/Her) and I'm a PT at The Zone!

 

I have been a PT since 2019, but a group exercise instructor since 2010!

Fun fact: I learn and memorise choreographies and workout routines insanely fast, which is very helpful teaching exercise to music!

Favourite exercise: Anything in bear crawl position - twists, walks, pikes, steps, you name it! I love it!  And planks.  And all core exercises!

Exercise makes me feel alive and in charge of my own body and life.  I've always loved movement, but after multiple knee dislocations and developing lower back pain, it started to mean something much deeper.  It became about making my body strong, so I don't have to say no to things I love or want to try.  So I don't have to think, "what if this next move injures me again?".  My lower back pain used to affect my every day life: getting out of bed, standing, sitting...everything.  And I didn't want to accept that this is my normal.  So I changed.  I built my body to be strong, resilient, and able to handle life.  Now I have a level of freedom I hadn't felt since my first knee injury at the age of 16.  And that freedom means everything.  It's worth everything.  That's why I love exercise.  It's the most powerful medicine you can give yourself.​

PARKING/ TRANSPORT

Cycling - Please feel free to bring your bike into the building and down the stairs.  Please do not leave them in the hallways.  Clients are responsible for their bikes.  We do not take responsibility for bikes left inside.

Parking - Lawrence Hill Road - Please refer to times on parking meter.  We are a few minutes away from the pay and display parking on White Street.  There is also parking available at Easton Leisure Centre Car Park.

Train - We are a 10 minute walk from Temple Meads Train Station.

Walking - We are a 3 minute walk from Old Market main road and a 5-8 minute walk from Cabot Circus.

Dott ( Electric Scooters/Bikes) - There is a dedicated parking space for Dott electric bikes and scooters outside the Trinity Centre.
