Black Mothers Matter deliver a range of resources and services that provide accurate, relevant, safer information and support to our community of Black & Mixed Black women and birthers. We also work with professionals in the NHS and other organisations - so that they are more knowledgeable and better equipped to support all types of Black people giving birth. Black Mothers Matter are committed to supporting and celebrating Black pregnancies across the UK.
The situation is complex and multifaceted. There is no singular organisation, project, service or intervention that will solves all of the issues. Our contribution is through multiple approaches with both our community and professionals.

We deliver a range of resources and services that provide accurate, relevant safe information and support directly to our community.

There are various community perinatal groups but in many scenarios people from Black communities do not always have the privilege to relax and be their most authentic self in these spaces, because they are white led and white dominated. Our groups are an option for Black women, by Black women.

WE PROVIDE:

Mental health, wellbeing and peer support; relevant, accurate information on medical conditions that disproportionately affect Black people during pregnancy; culturally considered and appropriate perinatal information; access and signposting to professionals.

These groups are vital for the community and break down barriers - in both directions - by providing a safer environment for the community and professionals to engage.

We host Bumps and Babies at CONNECT Studio, every Thursday during term time, between 11am-1pm.
